We all know that prevention is better than cure. The following are some of the programs that have been introduced by the Government to promote preventive health.

GP management plan and team care arrangements
This is available to patients with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes. It is an excellent way to outline what actions need to be taken and to coordinate care with other health care professionals. Patients who have this in place may be eligible to receive Medicare rebates for dental services and allied health services.

Mental health plan
This is available to patients with a mental health condition such as depression. Patients who have this in place may be eligible to receive Medicare rebates for psychological services.

Seniors annual health check-up
This is available to patients who are over 75 years of age. It is a comprehensive review of your health and lifestyle.

 

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander annual health check-up
This is available to patients of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent who are over 55 years of age. It is a comprehensive review of your health and lifestyle.

45-49 years old health check-up
This is available to patients between 45 and 49 years of age who are at risk of developing a chronic disease. It is a review of your risk factors and lifestyle.
